A Very Merry Christmas Movie Bracket

Earlier this month I thought to myself, you know, there are at least 4.3 million things I should be doing right now, but the most pressing thing on the list is definitely “Make a Christmas Movie Bracket.” That really can’t slip through the cracks this year.

And good news for everyone, it did not slip through the cracks one bit. There is a mountain of laundry lying in this bracket’s wake, but I have absolutely no regrets.

Download the PDF version here, because of course there is a PDF version… (Check back for the updated versions as the rounds progress. But please don’t stop by in person for a printed copy; the house most certainly will not be clean.)

Christmas Movie Bracket

Let’s get to the FAQs.

How does this work, you big weirdo?

It’s basically March Madness but for Christmas movies. #CompetitiveChristmas! 32 movies, head to head match ups, 1 champion.

How do I participate? This sounds like a great use of my time.

Voting is kicking off tonight, November 26, on the With Love and a Little Self-Deprecation Facebook page. Each match up will be a head to head vote – winning movie after 24 hours of voting moves on to the next round. Multiple match ups will be live at one time otherwise this thing will go on until the 4th of July.

I encourage your participation, particularly if you feel strongly that Home Alone is far and away the best Christmas movie ever created. If you’re voting for Die Hard then voting starts on December 26. (#sorrynotsorry, my cousin Kris.)

What’s the prize for the winning movie?

I’ll be tracking down the stunt people from the winning film and sending them an Edible Arrangment because those heroes don’t get enough credit.

But what do I get out of it? #SeasonOfGiving

  1. The opportunity for festive trash talking on Facebook.
  2. Supporting my blog without having to read my blog because ugh, reading is the worst.
  3. The answer to everyone’s burning question – what is the best Christmas movie of all time according to Becca’s friends and family?
  4. Fill out your own bracket and get all the winners right and if I know you in real life I’ll bake you cookies. If I don’t know you in real life, then you shouldn’t take homemade cookies from a stranger. Come on now, think that one through please. I’ll send you a really good coupon code though. (TBD)

Looking forward to playing with you, (Mom). Here’s to kicking off the Christmas season!

With holiday cheer and extra batteries for Kevin McCallister’s Talkboy,
